Me V.S. the FAYZ

Caine is out to kill me now. Over at Coates, Caine and Drake took all the freaks (that's what they're calling the kids who have powers) that were against what they were doing and gathered them up together. Computer Jack noticed that all powers work through the hands, and he told Caine and Drake this. Now this is what I call absolutely sick. They took all of the freaks and plastered their hands with cement. As in they had chunks of cement instead of hands. They were way too heavy to lift up, so they were forced to drag them around and eat with their face like dogs. In facts, they were treated worse than dogs-they couldn't use the bathroom normally; they had to "go" in their clothes. Caine established a loyal worker to feed the freaks, but eventually the feeder got selfish as the food got more scarce and he ended up not feeding them at all.

Caine captured my group and me and plastered us. Within a few minutes, I could feel the effects of the concrete blocks. I don't want to imagine what it would feel like for weeks. Thankfully, Little Pete saved us with his impossible power. He is way more powerful than me. He's also way more powerful than Caine. That's saying something. If Caine were ever to find out about him, he'd kill him for sure. Since Little Pete's autistic, everyone tends to overlook him as a threat. Anyway, Little Pete got us out of the blocks and we were able to save all the freaks. You should have seen their hands. Actually, no, you shouldn't have. They were disgusting. Their skin on their hands was falling of because of the constant friction. They were gray and peeling. It was all I could do not to puke. Luckily, we have Lana, the Healer. It took her a long time, but eventually she got everyone fixed up quite nicely.

I've never been more furious in my life at one person. I know that this is going to come out to a fight; we've both sworn each other's death. But before we can kill each other, we might poof. So far whenever someone in the FAYZ turns 15 at that exact second they just poof. No one knows how to beat it. I might vanish into the outside world, I might die, or worse.

I Didn't See That One Coming!

Here's another big problem: while we were at the power plant, we ran into a wall. Literally. This wasn't the average wall; it shouldn't even have been there. It cut right through the building and everything else in its way. Also, it hurts like crazy to touch it! It feels like it's burning off every nerve on whatever body part touches it. Nothing can break it or crack it. We don't really know what to make of this, yet.

Through a series of events, I found out that Caine is my brother. We're fraternal twins. When we were born, my mother kept me and put Caine up for adoption. I don't really know what to think about this. I mean, my mom lied to me for 14 years. Besides, Caine's not exactly what I would call the perfect brother. He's beaten me up and screwed up our lives considerably.

We went on another journey, on that one we found out that animals are mutating. Snakes can fly and coyotes can talk. This is definitely freaking me out. Astrid's hypothesis is that someone altered the rules for reality. I just know that something is wrong, seriously wrong.

New Kid in Charge

Turns out, I'm not the only person with powers around here. Actually, lots of people have powers. But I think I'm the only one who can shoot light/fire out of their hands. Caine has quite the power himself. He can move objects with his mind. Not just light stuff, either. He can pick stuff up and smash it into a wall, or simply make something he wants come to him so he doesn't have to get up, like a drink or snack. Caine still seems pretty nice, but when I look into his eyes I see that shouldn't be there. Like this crazed hunger for power or something...it's hard to describe.

Life under Caine's rule has been interesting. He made me fire chief. Probably because of the School Bus Sam thing, and just a short while ago a house was set on fire and a kid was trapped upstairs. I ran in and tried to save her, but I couldn't. But apparently it still counts for bravery. Also he saw that I pretty much was in charge of Perdido Beach-at least people wanted me to be- so I couldn't be ignored.

Oh and by the way, when I said that life under Caine's rule has been interesting, by interesting I meant completely horrible. Caine's not what you would call compassionate, or even nice in any way. He's got all the bullies out working for him. He says that they are his cops. Well Orc just beat an innocent girl to death for no real reason. Things are getting worse and worse.

New Kids in Town

When we were coming back to Perdido Beach, we saw a bunch of cars pulling up. The kids started coming out of the cars and we realized that they were from Coates Academy. Coates Academy is the place where rich parents send their troubled kids. So overall, not very pleasant or enjoyable children to deal with. A boy my age gets up and starts talking. His name is Caine. He sounds caring, nice, and trusting. But I don't buy into it. The whole thing seems a little too perfect. Like it was practiced many times. Besides, he's from Coates-there is a great reason not to trust him right off the bat. I look over at Astrid and I can tell she feels the same way.

Caine's speech ends now. He had been talking about how he can bring better leadership to this place and take care of people, and by the looks of the kids around him, they all bought it. Their faces are looking hopeful, happy even. The new kids in town are either going to be a lifesaver, or big trouble.

I Have a Secret...

Okay. So now I'm left with some problems. Everybody in Perido Beach wants me to be in charge. All because on a field trip once our bus driver had a heart attack and I brought the bus to safety. They still call me School Bus Sam for that. But I really don't want to be in charge of over 300 people. I just want to surf.

On top of that, Astrid asked me to go to the power plant with her to search for autistic brother, Little Pete. On the way there, the school bully, Orc, attacked us with his followers. We got by, but I can tell that there are going to be some future issues with those people. They're calling this place the FAYZ. That stands for Fallout Alley Youth Zone. Like 30 years ago or something a meteorite hit our power plant and produced a bunch radioactivity. But the meteorite took all the radiation with it way down deep into the earth. The power plant people said they cleaned the rest of it up, so the radiation won't kill us all...or so they say. In short, there is definitely going to be some major problems with bullying.

So here is the thing that REALLY has me freaking out. I think I caused the FAYZ. Or at least, I contributed to it or something. I'm just a normal guy, or at least I was up until a few weeks ago. You see, I'm scared of the dark. So I was trying to go to sleep, and I was scared because it was dark. And suddenly, there was this light over in my closet. Not like a light bulb light, a light that was just floating there. Weird, right? Well it gets weirder. Just a little after that, my mom was having a fight with my step dad. They fight a lot, but this one was going too far; when I walked in I thought that he was going after my mom with a knife! All I could feel was anger. I raised my hands, and next thing I know my step dad is screaming in agony! I burned my own stepfather's hand off! Now that is what I call a secret I'm not exactly dying to tell.

Where Did Everybody Go?

One second I'm staring at my teacher, then, I'm not staring at anything. The teacher is gone. He just disappeared. I look around to see if anyone else just saw this; I'm hoping that this was just my imagination. But judging from the looks of the other students around me, they are all having the same hallucination as me. We stay staring at the spot where our teacher disappeared, half expecting him to just walk in and say it was all just a magic trick. But no one walks in.

Slowly we get up and start wandering around the halls, searching for someone to explain what is happening. After a while of that we find that the reason why no adults were helping us was that there were no adults! A few buddies (Quinn, Astrid, and Edilio) and I go around town searching for adults. We quickly find out that everyone ages 15 and over disappeared. They're gone.
